Christchurch driver, Glen Durie took out the New Zealand Three Quarter Midgetcar title at XPH Ruapuna Speedway on Thursday evening after rain had delayed the 57th running of the event from the previous Saturday night.
Napier’s Craig Todd filled the runner-up position with Christchurch’s Ricky Brett in third place.
The 36 year old was a popular winner of the 25 lap final and brought to an end a fourteen year drought since a South Island driver last lifted the trop

coming from mid pack in the 25 lap final race Durie made several crucial passes slowly progressing towards the front with the final pass on Craig Todd coming 6 laps from the finish - Durie had to survive a number of restarts towards the end of the race giving the local fans plenty to worry about in the final stages of the race.

Edge Parts and Performance, sponsors of the NZ TQ Title put on a well recieved barbacue at there shop premises on Main Sth Road this evening.
Drivers, pit crew and supporters were treated to a barbacue, drinks and some good company while discussing the upcoming title at Ruapuna on Thursday night. Darryl Wright gave away a number of spot prizes to all that attended Brock Mascovich, Gareth Nixon and Gareth Bindon being the lucky recipients.
Rain has delayed running of the the final of the 57th running of the New Zealand Three Quarter Midget championship which was scheduled to be run at Ruapuna Speedway on Saturday evening after qualifying was held on Friday evening. Attempts to run the meeting on Sunday afternoon were also unsuccessful due to the weather.
