The Christchurch Speedway Association expresses its sincere condolences
to the Cawley family on the loss of a respected and loved member of the
speedway fraternity. Dave has battled against an all too common foe
with bravery, dignity and courage.
A Good night was had by all at the recent prize giving evening and one of the highlights was the recognition of Dave Cawley for services to Speedway Dave because of illness was unable to accept the award but a standing ovation was given to his wife when she collected the award on Daves behalf.
Results
Christchurch driver, Jamie Duff won the final round of the Sprintcar War of the Wings at Ruapuna Speedway on Saturday evening from Ray Baughan and Matt Honeywell, both from Christchurch with Cromwell’s Jason Scott in four place.
Speedway has been part of Auckland's entertainment offering since 1929 and it would be a tragedy for the sport and the city if the Speedway was forced to close. Give Auckland's future generations the option to experience great family sporting entertainment in the heart of their city:

Kyle Glover put together a tidy performance to win the TQ Feature race on saturday night. Plauged with minor mechanical isuues in the recent NZ and South Island championships Glover has been putting in good peformances without reward, starting from grid seven in the feature Glover put together a series of nice passes to make his way to the front and eventually win by 1/4 of a lap.
Nelson’s Nevil Basalaj took out the penultimate round of the Barry Butterworth Midgetcar Series at Ruapuna Speedway on Saturday evening, from Nick Marquet (Nelson) with Christchurch ’s Gary Chadwick in third place.
Gareth Bindon driving his new (red 45) TQ for the first time after purcahsing off Glen Milroy got things wrong in turn two. Bindon showed good pace in the early stages of the race but went round with a full field of cars behind him, despite taking a hammering the car had minor damage after the incident and was able to restart in the next race.
