Speedway fans will get an early Christmas present this Saturday night (December 12) with a number of top flight visiting Sprintcar drivers appearing at the Xpress Printing House Ruapuna Speedway.
Making his Ruapuna debut will be the highly rated Palmerston North driver Nelson Hartley who after a successful career in many facets of motor sport appears to have established a big future in the Sprintcar division.
Last year he finished fourth in the New Zealand Championship and is already being touted as a contender for higher honours.
Eight time New Zealand Sprintcar Champion Allan Wakeling is also entered and is keen to make up for the disappointment of having an engine problem sidelining him while he was leading the feature race at Ruapuna's last meeting.
Also entered are the highly fancied Cromwell duo of Cory Price and Jason Scott, Invercargill's Barry Innes and Nigel Molloy as well as rookie Nelson driver Greg Teece who shone at the opening round of the War of the Wings Series which was held at Ruapuna in November.
Christchurch driver Jamie Duff, who took out the honours at the 'War of the Wings' event will lead the local contingent which continues to grow in numbers.
The meeting is billed as 'Santas Speedway Spectacular' and the track has a large number of give aways for the children, including chances for a bicycle to be won.
