Despite being relatively close to the epi-centre of the devastating Canterbury earthquake, Ruapuna Speedway appears to have escaped relatively unscathed. Although a thorough investigation has not yet been carried out, all the major buildings, the track and fence as well as the seating appear to be in good condition."We have been lucky" said ChCh Speedway Association President Darren Nankivell, "however we are aware that some of our competitors, officials and supporters may not have been so fortunate, and our thoughts are with them."The preseason practices will commence on October 2nd, while the opening meeting is on November 20 featuring the opening round of the DHL Interislander Saloon Car series
