NZ Sprintcar Title to be staged at Ruapuna 2011/12
Several years of disappointing returns at the Speedway Promoters Association conference came to an end today when Ruapuna was allocated the 2011-12 New Zealand Sprint Car Championship, whichis sure to be the centre piece of the Ruapuna Speedway's 50th anniversary. The track has staged the title on 15 previous occasions, and club officers were bitterly disappointed not to be allocated theevent for the past season. The new track grading system saw Ruapuna miss out on the New Zealand Midget Car Championship,a meeting long overdue back in Christchurch however part of thecriteria for being elible for national titles includes a minimum of ten cars at at least three meetings in the season that the allocationsare done. Last season Ruapuna's best roll out of Midget Cars wasnine - on those three occasions. The other allocations involving Ruapuna classes were:Midgets: NZ Championship Huntly: GP Western Springs: SI NelsonSprintcars: NZ Ruapuna: GP Cromwell: SI CromwellTQ NZ: Meeanee: GP Western Springs: SI RuapunaSidecars: NZ Rosebank: GP Palmerston North: SI Moore ParkSolos: NZ- Moore Park: GP Oreti: SI Oreti
