New driver to the Midget ranks Blair Low put on a amazing display of driving last night before he got it all wrong and went for a spectacular crash - Low a former 2NZ Mini Sprint driver is now the driver of the ex Gary Robertson 19c midget and raced it for the first time last night.
After initial setup problems in the first heat Low started the second heat from grid seven and was not expected to make progress against the more powerful midget car oppposition, but with same determined driving and a no lift policy on the gas pedal he made his way to second passing some notable oppsition.
With some confidence and the slick track conditions suiting the 2.2 litre powered midget Low started the feature race from the same grid position (7) and again showed amazing determination to pass several cars before eyeing up Gavin Wilke on turn three, Low ready to make his 4th pass in the race kept his foot flat into the corner but rode the right rear wheel of Wilke's midget sending the car into a wild somersault ending 3/4 of the way up the saftey fence.
Not the start Low wanted on his midget debut, but many were impressed by some of the skills shown with the under powered midget.
