July Newsletter
July 2009 Newletter
Since the CSA Annual General Meeting held late May the CSA Management Committee has been busy preparing for the forthcoming
race season and finalising the few matters still outstanding from last season.
Competitor Payout
At the AGM members were informed the Management Committee was still considering the financial ability of the Club to make such
a payout. It has now been decided to make a one off payment of $50 to each competitor who raced at a minimum of 50% of the race
meetings held during the 2008/2009 season.
The payment will only be made to those competitors who request that it be paid. The Management Committee encourages
competitors to donate this payment to the Club by not requesting it.
As discussed at the AGM, the Club generated a small surplus during the 2008/2009 season, but would have incurred a loss
if entry charges had not been paid by all people entering the stadium. Since the AGM the club has paid approximately $3,500 for
the prize giving and purchased a lift truck $7,000 for use at race meetings.
If you wish to receive the $50 payment please email your request to the Club Secretary at ruapunaspeedway@ihug.co.nz by
31 August 2009.
Calendar
A draft calendar has been prepared subject to confirmation of the NZ Sprintcar Title date from Cromwell. Once the Sprintcar
date is confirmed the draft calendar will be submitted to Speedway New Zealand for ratification, after which it will be
distributed to members. Below are some key dates from the draft calendar, which has 13 car based meetings and 2
bike only meetings:
- First Practice 3 October 2.00pm
- Second Practice 10 October 2.00pm
- Dress Rehearsal 17 October 7.00pm
- Practice Rainout Date 31 October 7.00pm (to be utilised only if necessary)
- Opening Night 7 November 7.00pm

Total Sprintcar Experience
Many of you will have read recently of Keith Brough’s venture, Total Sprintcar Experience (TSE), which is a private business
to provide a speedway driving experience to the general public and provide practice and test sessions for licensed speedway
competitors. TSE has entered into an agreement with CSA to be based at Ruapuna Speedway and will provide options for
competitors and prospective competitors to access the track that has not previously been available.
TSE will be distributing information to club members in the next few weeks.
Track, Fence and General Maintenance
Over the next few weeks the track surface will be refreshed and allowed to settle before the season starts. The safety
fence will be upgraded to ensure it complies with proposed SNZ regulations. The Management Committee will be in
contact with individual class clubs in coming weeks to propose a maintenance job that can be completed as a working
bee for that class.
Club and SNZ Sign-ups
Sign in day for Club membership and SNZ licences will be advised as soon as we have the necessary paperwork
for our track licence. You will be able to complete on-line licensing from 1 September. Please note if you do not hold
an SNZ issued licence you will not be able to practise or race.
Website
A new website will be up and running shortly. This website will be more user-friendly and contain more information
and results etc. We will let you all know the name of this site when it is ready. There will be features which will enable
you to promote your vehicle and sponsors.
