Luke Brough (Modified Sprint 25c) took a wild ride at the first Practice, A slick track and windy conditions helping to push his Modified Sprint into the turn one wall. After a quick inspection of the car minimal damage had occured with a few rods and bars needing replacement.
First Practice 3rd October
Warm Windy conditions greeted competitors at the first practice session on Saturday afternoon. Just a handful of drivers from each class took to the track most simply getting use to being back in the car after a long winter off season.

Three Modified Sprints turned up with new competitor Anthony Dawson (8c) putting in some tidy laps, Chris Parker a rookie last year turned up in his new Henchcraft and showed some early pace before getting caught out with the slick track conditions. Another rookie from last year Luke Brough also turned up and after initially showing good pace he also got caught out with the windy slick track conditions taking a spectacular ride around the turn one wall. |

Tom Lumsden's New TQ |
TQs had a good showing with a number of cars going around, Tom Lumsden turned up in his new car and looked comfortable enough, Ryan Stone didn't look to have lost any of his pace putting in half a dozen tidy laps, Mechanical issues hampered Ben Tiplady and Lindsay Bailey. |

Gary Robertson |
Gary Robertson was the only Midget on the track and with a clear track he had the 2 Litre Toyota screaming around Ruapuna, Robertson later admitting nothing had been done to the car in the off seson but was pleased with how the engine went. |

Luke Adams |
Quarter Midgets had three drivers turn up with rookie competitor Luke Adams taking his first few laps around Ruapuna and the Clive brothers Bailey and Nathan both showing they will be competitive this year. |

James Thian |
Youth Mini stocks had half a dozen competitors with James Thian (15c) showing he will be hard to beat again this year Thian's smooth driving style should should see him win a number of races this year. |

Ray Baughan |
Mechanical Issues hampered Ray Baughan in the Sprintcar's and Josh Wilson's sidecar also struck engine issues.
